Moon Tourism
Perhaps one of the most interesting things in the Cosmos, which has captivated the attention of mankind, is the Moon. It has been a constant stimulus to mankind as people have gazed at the face of the moon at night for centuries. People have wondered at what lays on the surface of the moon and there have been more poems, stories, science fiction writings and essays written about the moon than any other celestial object in the cosmos. After the travel to the Moon in the year 1969, a major stepping stone has been achieved for the mankind and it has been summed up in the famous words, when the first astronaut stepped on the moon,: “This is a small step for a man but a giant leap for mankind”.
Now with the advent of modern space technology, travel to moon has again become a new popularity. On the government’s side President George W. Bush’s announcement to start commencing flights to the moon has aroused excitement and interest. However, with the efforts of Space Adventures Inc, a travel to the moon has become a possibility for the private sector as well. In fact, this has signaled the beginning of moon tourism. Space Adventures Inc has announced that in couple of years they will take two space faring adventurers to a trip to the moon for $100 million dollars a seat, becoming a total of $200 million dollars for two seats.
What the Space Adventures Inc. will do is use the Russian Spacecraft Soyuz to launch the two spacefarers with professional cosmonauts. The Soyuz spacecraft will rendezvous with an unmanned rocket booster in space. After the combination of the two spacecraft, the momentum generated by the Rocket Booster will carry the mission on to the moon. After the arrival on the moon, the spacecraft will take a lunar orbit on the far side of the moon and the two lunar farer passengers will be able to watch the moon from its lunar orbit. Although no lunar landing is planned due to technological complications, it is hoped that this mission will be a real stepping stone towards flourishing moon tourism. However if the mission goes well, then it will be plausible to say that in the future some day a mission that will involve landing on the moon with a tourist will be considered.
Moon tourism is really an important achievement in the chronology of private sector space development. Because of the allure of the Moon for the Mankind, people have been dreaming of traveling to the moon for years. With the advances of space technology, the prices may come down in approximately two decades and then normal middle class persons can enjoy a trip to the orbit of the moon for couple of thousand dollars. It must be remembered that in order for a business to be successful, you must be able to attract the middle class. Although it seems like a dream now, it must not be forgotten that most achievements have started with a dream. If more and more organizations support moon tourism then one day, perhaps we will even see moon hotels and more but until that day comes, everyone should support moon tourism so that travel to the moon for the common public can someday become a reality.
More About Space Tourism
Did you know…it is just a matter of time when you can get married in the space. Believe it or not but this is true.
It may sounds to be a kind of science fiction for many people today, however, this can sooner than later become a reality.
The latest news in Daily Mail reveals that the brittish and very wealthy entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson is planning the worlds first space wedding next year. No, this is not a kind of futuristic visionairy dream only. Mr Branson will bring the wedding ceremony to new heights. This is all about a new project where the first test tours is intented to take room this summer. The spaceship will bring the couple actual up to 112 654 km over the earth cake for a two hours journey. The involved will be prepared with a three day long course before the travel. Other types of space travel will also be available. So I would suggests you to take a sincere second look if you see a notice about the company named Branson Virgin Galactic later on this year.
If you rather prefer to stay on the earth, watch on televsion when the latest Voyager returns from their space travel, and calmly study birds in daytime light you may find very useful resources, inspirating birding videos and recreational birdwatching references available at Your Bird Watching Resource Center.
